• MobileIron Cloud simplifies how employees access and use apps and content on mobile devices - includes new content catalogue feature
• EE is the only network operator to include business-grade security across all mobile operating systems in its corporate plans as standard
London 28 May, 2014. EE, the UK’s most advanced digital communications company, and MobileIron, a leader in security and management for mobile apps, content, and devices, today announce a partnership to bring MobileIron Cloud to the UK. EE is the first network operator to offer MobileIron Cloud in the UK and the only UK operator to provide business-grade security across all mobile operating systems in its corporate plans as standard. EE is also the first operator worldwide to offer MobileIron Cloud as a MobileIron-hosted service.
MobileIron Cloud from EE is a multi-operating system enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform for small to medium businesses that provides simplified security and control of mobile devices . With this new platform, businesses can configure and selectively manage mobile apps, content and devices, automatically enforce usage policies, and retire mobile devices when they are lost or when an employee leaves the company. User enrolment and device configuration are automated so employees can set up a mobile device for themselves .
Gerry McQuade, Chief Marketing Officer for Business at EE, said: “Security is essential if businesses want to become genuinely mobile without putting sensitive company data at risk. With partners like MobileIron, we’ve developed a portfolio of mobile security solutions that make it easier to manage mobile devices regardless of the operating system each device is running.”
“MobileIron Cloud is an important step in removing the complexity associated with securing business data across multiple device types and operating systems. With this latest development, MobileIron has made it even simpler for employees to enrol and secure mobile devices for themselves.”
New to MobileIron Cloud is the content catalogue, which allows employees to choose the files they want, then updates those files automatically when new versions become available. Administrators can distribute content to different user groups and devices, and assign content to different categories. Content is encrypted, can be stored on the device and removed automatically when the device is retired from the platform.
Users can also choose mobile apps from MobileIron Cloud’s app catalogue for tasks such as expense reporting, travel booking, collaborative working and customer relationship management. These can be either commercially available apps or custom-made apps developed by the business.
Nigel Hawthorn, EMEA Marketing Director at MobileIron, said: “Small and medium businesses face many of the same challenges as larger enterprises; they need to securely deliver files and apps, and manage employee devices. Whether organisations are most interested in data and device security or whether they want to deliver content and apps to their users, EE has a solution to suit.”
MobileIron Cloud is included in EE’s Super Secure 4GEE portfolio. This portfolio provides businesses of all sizes with the tools to securely manage access to company data, business applications and content on any mobile device across all major operating systems .
