CLOCK-A-DOODLE-DOO: EE WIFI ROOSTER OFFERS GLASTONBURY GOERS TIMELY REMINDERS AHEAD OF PYRAMID STAGE PERFORMANCES
- Top of the flocks: EE introduces Worthy Farm’s newest resident; a WiFi Rooster who will be strutting his stuff at the Recharge Tent, offering regular reminders ahead of headline performances
- Free range: The connected cockerel also offers all Festival goers a complimentary Wi-Fi hotspot on EE’s award-winning network
- Unbeatable prizes: Glastonbury goers who share a picture of the WiFi Rooster’s golden egg will have a chance to win side of stage tickets to a Pyramid Stage performance
Monday 20th June 2022: EE, Glastonbury Festival’s official technology partner, is bringing the world’s first connected WiFi rooster to Worthy Farm this June, offering Festival goers reminders ahead of Pyramid stage performances, as well as providing a complimentary WiFi boost.
With a recent survey by EE revealing that over half of festival goers have missed sets from their favourite artists in the past, EE’s WiFi Rooster has been created to provide a series of much-needed reminders of the amazing performances happening on the iconic Pyramid Stage.
Ensuring music fans don’t miss out on their favourite sets, EE’s Wi-Fi Rooster will alert passers-by 30 minutes ahead of Pyramid Stage performances by playing famous songs from the headline artists, giving Festival goers enough time to make their way to the stage.
The research from EE also showed that nearly half of Festival goers use their smartphone to remind themselves of set times, while almost three in five have run out of smartphone battery at a festival – a risky combination. Surprisingly, 9% of respondents admitted to requesting phone calls from home to remind them of set times.
Perched alongside EE’s WiFi Rooster is a golden egg which music fans can snap and post on Instagram and Twitter, tagging @EE and using the hashtag #EEWiFiRooster for a chance to win some amazing prizes, including side of stage tickets for a Pyramid Stage performance.
Pete Jeavons, Marketing and Communications Director at EE, said: “Glastonbury is the UK’s biggest and most iconic Festival, packed with incredible experiences and performances from some of the world’s biggest artists. In the excitement, it can be easy to lose track of time and miss headline sets you’ve been anticipating for months.
Our partnership with the Festival was built on using EE’s technology to keep customers connected to the things they love, which is why we’ve created our Worthy Farm WiFi rooster, who will be offering Glastonbury-goers valuable reminders ahead of Pyramid Stage performances, as well as a free WiFi boost for all guests to share their Festival memories with family and friends.”
The rooster, designed sustainably from beak to claw using materials such as FSC certified plywood and reused ethernet cables, is backed by a bespoke mobile Wi-Fi hotspot from EE’s award-winning network.
The Wi-Fi Rooster is one of many initiatives that EE undertakes as part of its longstanding partnership with Glastonbury Festival. Earlier this month EE announced the release of the official Glastonbury Festival app, allowing users to stay connected with the latest live Festival updates, navigate their way around the 900-acre site and even create their own personalised line-ups.
And with more than 200 terabytes of data predicted to be used by festival goers at Worthy Farm this year, surpassing 2019’s record of 100 terabytes of data, music fans will also have access to a wide range of charging options available at the EE Recharge Tent, including Wireless and USB C charging stations, charging compatible phones in under 30 minutes.
