EE hosts Sophie Ellis-Bextor and other stars from the world of music in EE's 4G garden at Glastonbury 2014

EE played host to festival artists and celebrity guests in EE’s 4G Garden at Glastonbury Festival 2014.

The rain clouds cleared as guests were treated to live acoustic performances from singer/songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor (‘Murder on the Dancefloor’) and band of the moment Bipolar Sunshine (‘Trouble’).   Sophie closed her set by letting the crowd choose the encore, between her most famous hit ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ or a unique cover of Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’.  The tricky choice meant it went to a vote but the famous Dolly track eventually won out as guests prepared for Dolly’s big Sunday performance on the Pyramid stage.

DJ Seth Troxler swapped his decks for a BBQ for the occasion, personally serving guests of EE’s 4G Garden a selection of his Smokey Tails' ribs, pulled pork and chicken wings.

Other guests in the VIP Garden included actor Will Poulter and band Kodaline.

As the official communications and technology partner of Glastonbury, EE also installed a 4G network on site to keep festival goers tweeting, blogging and updating their Facebook pages, as well as providing free superfast 4G WiFi at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, with 4G hotspots modelled after Worthy Farm’s famous dairy herd.

EE also worked with Glastonbury Festival to launch widespread contactless payment on site, with over 100 card readers in 25 main bars, as well as Cash on Tap facilities for EE customers with compatible phones, allowing them to pay using their mobile.
