EE launches the world’s first wearable 4G camera – the 4GEE Capture Cam

  • 4GEE Capture Cam is the latest addition to EE’s connected device range, and is available today for consumers and small businesses from EE shops and the EE online store
  • Lightweight, compact and wearable, the 4GEE Capture Cam is designed to capture everyday adventures and allows users to broadcast live using personal broadcasting service, Skeegle

EE, the UK’s most advanced digital communications company, today announced the availability of the 4GEE Capture Cam, the latest device in EE’s connected range. The lightweight, wearable 4GEE Capture Cam allows users to broadcast live over the UK’s biggest and fastest 4G mobile network and is available immediately for consumers and small business customers to purchase nationwide.

The 4GEE Capture Cam is a lightweight, wearable camera that allows users to stream high definition video of their day-to-day lives.  Designed to be small and portable for everyday use, the camera weighs just 90g and can be easily clipped to a bag or jacket or fitted to a variety of mounts and accessories.

Simple to set up and use, the 4GEE Capture Cam can instantly broadcast video live from the camera with a single click of a button allowing businesses to stream video wherever they are to their customers, partners and colleagues; and consumers to share with friends and family, whether it’s a big night out or a quick kick about in the park.

The 4GEE Capture Cam features a high-quality 8MP camera capable of capturing still images and live video at a variety of resolutions and frame rates. It also includes 4GB of internal memory, which expands to up to 64GB with an external memory card, so users can capture hours of video and hundreds of images

The new camera is the latest addition to EE’s connected camera range, following the launch of the 4GEE Action Cam earlier in the year. EE plans to build on this range of cameras for businesses in the coming year, with more details to come in 2016.

Chris Traggio, Director of Connected Products, EE said: “We’ve designed the 4GEE Capture Cam to be lightweight and wearable, making it effortless to carry around with you wherever you go. Whether you’re streaming a family member or friend’s wedding, or a property viewing for a customer, EE has the innovative products and 4G network to keep you connected.”

Companion App

The 4GEE Capture Cam’s companion app allows users to control all camera functions direct from their smartphone. The smartphone’s screen acts as the camera’s viewfinder, making it easy to set up great shots and capture videos on-the-go.

The companion app features a range of camera controls, including the ability to adjust camera settings, manage image and video files, buy additional data bundles, review data usage and download and share videos. The app is available for both iOS and Android smartphones.

Skeegle live broadcasting

Skeegle is a free, private live-streaming service that has been optimised for 4G and fully integrated with the 4GEE Capture Cam. Skeegle gives 4GEE Capture Cam users three key features: Broadcast (live streaming of video direct from the 4GEE Capture Cam), Catch Up (a personal programme guide containing all the Skeegle videos and streams shared with a user) and Groups (which can create and manage contact groups and allows users to share their streams with as many people as they like). There’s also the option to set up live streams for future events, and send push notifications to contacts to let them know when the next stream will start. Skeegle takes less than a minute to download and to sign up – and only needs a UK mobile phone number, a Facebook account, and an Android or iOS device with the Skeegle app installed.

Accessories

A range of accessories will be available for the 4GEE Capture Cam from January 2016:

  • Waterproof case
  • Flexible universal mounting adaptor
  • Lanyard

The 4GEE Capture Cam is also fully compatible with the existing accessories available for the 4GEE Action Cam. Accessories available:
