EE to bring the HTC 5G Mobile Smart Hub to UK Consumers

EE, the UK’s number one mobile network and part of BT Group, today announced it is working with HTC to bring the new HTC 5G Mobile Smart Hub to UK consumers this year.

The HTC 5G Hub will allow customers to use 5G on multiple devices while on the go for fast connectivity helping them to share content and access entertainment seamlessly on the go. A 5-inch HD touchscreen allows for ease of use and high-quality visuals, and long-lasting power makes for a travel companion that will harness the superfast 5G speeds EE’s network will provide.

EE is switching on 5G sites in 16 UK cities in 2019. The first launch cities will be the UK’s four capital cities – London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast – and Birmingham and Manchester. EE’s 5G launch will cover the busiest parts of cities, including London’s Hyde Park, Manchester Airport, Edinburgh Waverley train station, Belfast City Airport, The Welsh Assembly and Birmingham’s Bullring shopping centre.

As well as the six launch cities, through 2019 EE will also be introducing 5G across the busiest parts of ten more UK cities: Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry and Bristol.

Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer division: “Our 5G network will give EE customers even faster, more reliable connections where they need it most. Whether online gaming on the move, downloading or streaming 4K content, or simply keeping a fast connection in the busiest areas, EE customers with HTC’s new 5G Mobile Smart Hub will be able to connect any of their Wi-Fi enabled devices to our 5G network for the best connected experience.”

Graham Wheeler, VP Product and Business Operations, HTC Europe, said “From 4K video streaming, to low-latency gaming or staying connected on the go, the HTC 5G Hub is designed to take advantage of the game-changing speeds and connectivity of 5G. We’re thrilled to be working with EE to deliver the benefits of 5G to the UK with our first of its kind hardware.”

For customers wanting to find out more about the HTC 5G Mobile Smart Hub on EE, they can register their interest at www.ee.co.uk/5g where further information on pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
