EE working with UNICEF to support emergency response to Typhoon Haiyan

Today EE launched a text appeal and donation website to raise much needed funds for UNICEF’s Philippines appeal. EE will be promoting the text code and website to its customers through an SMS campaign and digital media. The text code is 70800, texting YES to this number delivers a donation of £5. Donations of varying amounts can also be made at www.unicef.org.uk/eeforunicef. In both cases funds go directly to UNICEF UK's Children's Emergency Fund.

Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest typhoon ever to have made landfall in the world, hit the Philippines on 8 November 2013. The impact of the storm was severe, with substantial loss of life and damage to infrastructure. An estimated 11.3 million people in the Philippines have been affected by the disaster, including more than 4 million children. Thousands of homes have been destroyed, roads are impassable and people are in desperate need of food, water, shelter and power. The funds raised in this appeal will provide aid to support children and families in the region.

UNICEF is EE’s official Disaster Emergency Relief partner. Since the beginning of the partnership in 2003 EE has raised over £2.3 million for the charity.
