Six of the nation’s best grassroots FIFA 22 players win a spot at the live final to battle it out, challenge England players and EXCEL esport games at Wembley Stadium connected by EE Full Fibre

England Football, together with EE, today announced the finalists of the Connected Club Cup, a new esports FIFA 22Ô competition played between grassroots gamers across England. The six finalists will play against England footballers and EXCEL esports gamers at Wembley Stadium connected by EE, the home of England Football, on 23rd August 2022.

Brad Colston from Burnley; Alfie Calder from Nottinghamshire; Luke Downing from Norwich; Harvey Waters from Salisbury; Lolingo Weye from London; and Ben Evans from Aylesbury were amongst eighteen of the nation’s best football gamers that battled for a coveted spot at the Connected Club Cup final.  The semi-final tournaments were hosted at EE’s Connected Clubs, grassroots football club whose clubhouses were turned into game houses using EE Full Fibre.

The semi-finalists competed in a round-robin tournament, at one of three semi-final tournaments - Merseyrail Ladies FC, Chasetown FC and Worthing Town FC - with matches played on both Xbox and PlayStation, proving EE Full Fibre can handle anything.

The live final will be hosted in The FA Club Box at Wembley Stadium on 23rd August. Following the same round-robin format, the six finalists can also test their skills against England footballers and EXCEL esport gamers.

Powered by EE Full Fibre, the live final will be streamed on England Football’s Twitch channel (Twitch.tv/England), where esports fans will be able to watch players trick, flick and spin it out to be awarded the Connected Club Cup trophy – and a host of amazing prizes including tickets to an England Football match, Wembley Stadium concert tickets and a yearly EE Full Fibre subscription.
