Everything Everywhere's text to donate policy

Following the recent announcement by the Institute of Fundraising urging Everything Everywhere to pass on 100% of charity text donations, we have accelerated our current review of the Text To Donate service and lifted the administrative charges that are usually passed on to our non charity partners.

Everything Everywhere is committed to helping charities, and makes no profit whatsoever from the Text to Donate service. In actual fact, our policy has been to pass on 100% of donations for our charity partners, such as Comic and Sport Relief, UNICEF, and Children In Need, all of which make up the vast majority of charities using this service. Of the £8.7m donations we have enabled through text to donate since 2010, it is fair to point out that only 0.5% has been taken as an administrative cost by Everything Everywhere to part cover the costs we incur as a business to run these services to the 180,000 charitable organisations in the UK. Our review is focused on making our service even better for more charities, and includes an investigation into the potential to include a simple Gift Aid mobile reclaim mechanism for customers. Through our Orange brand, Everything Everywhere created the first Text to Donate service in 2004 and we plan to again lead the way by improving its fundraising effectiveness. Charities are estimated to be losing up to £700m per year in unclaimed Gift Aid and through our text to donate service we want to help charities make the most of donations received. We are still working on the details of this system, and hope to make a further announcement in due course.
