London, Sunday 22nd February 2026: Tonight, at the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026, EE brought UK film fans closer to the BAFTA red carpet action than ever before, transforming one of the UK’s most iconic cultural moments into a live, shared celebration, powered by EE’s 5G+ network. From the red-carpet to backstage on the Winner’s Run, EE, the UK’s best network used the power and reliability of its connectivity to break down geographic barriers and create unforgettable moments with film fans.
It comes off the back of recent survey conducted by EE* that shows how film is one of the UK’s most beloved cultural experiences, with the average Brit watching 60 films a year. Nearly half (46%) of us say watching films is an important way to connect with friends and family, while one in five are watching more movies than ever before.
To honour this, on the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026 red carpet EE set out to celebrate the UK’s love of film providing them with a one in a lifetime opportunity. Film fans from Bath, which was recently crowned the UK’s ‘Cinephile Capital’ after EE data revealed residents stream more films per capita than any other UK town, appeared live on the red carpet as life-size holograms, surprising stars and sharing their excitement in real time.
Harnessing the power of its 5G+ network, EE used immersive holographic technology to beam Bath’s film lovers live onto the EE BAFTA Film Awards red carpet, giving them unprecedented access to one of the biggest nights in the film calendar.
Bringing the moment to life on the EE stage were EE Red Carpet Hosts Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, who hosted the holographic experience and guided globally recognised stars through the live interactions with fans. The couple, appearing together in their first joint hosting role since welcoming their first child, added warmth and humour to the stage as they facilitated conversations between celebrities and film fans, 166 miles away in Bath.
Host Alan Cumming, Aimee Lou Wood, the singing voices for HUNTR/X from KPop Demon Hunters (EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami), Mia McKenna-Bruce, Renate Reinsve, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Jacobi Jupe, Wagner Moura, Jay Lycurgo, Vogue Williams, Spencer Matthews and EE Rising Star nominees Robert Aramayo, Miles Caton and Archie Madekwe all interacted and spoke to their holographic fans live from the EE stage.
Reflecting on hosting the night, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo said: "It was such an honour to be a part of an EE BAFTA first as we gave deserving film fans the night of a lifetime. The awards truly celebrate creativity and storytelling at the highest level but tonight felt extra special. It wasn't just about what was happening inside the ceremony, it was also about celebrating the UK's love of film and bringing audiences closer to the action through the power of the EE network."
Stand out moments from the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards red carpet included:
- Aimee Lou Wood told one Bath film fan which of her iconic characters she’d bring to a BAFTA nominated film, stating: “I would put Chelsea from The White Lotus into Sinners so she could live forever…”
- EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami (KPop Demon Hunters) reflected on the importance of empowering emerging talent, stating: “It’s incredibly important to support the next generation of voice actors. One of the best parts of being in this film [KPop Demon Hunters] is uplifting the next generation.”
- Jacobi Jupe (Hamnet) took to the EE Stage to share his favourite film of the year, stating: “My favourite film of the year was Marty Supreme. I don’t know if I was allowed to see it… but I loved it!”
- Jay Lycurgo (Peaky Blinders) told one Bath film fan his advice for the next generation of actors, stating: “Acting is a true rollercoaster… you have to really believe in yourself and your authenticity. It’s about playing the long game, it’s not about immediate success.”
By bringing film lovers from Bath onto the red carpet, EE demonstrated how its network enables meaningful, real-time connections that extend the celebration beyond the ceremony itself.
Backstage, the stars spoke with EE and 15-year-old BAFTA Young Presenter, Jeriah Kibusi, offering advice for young talent who aspire to break into the creative industries:
- EE Rising Star Award and Best Actor winner Robert Aramayo said: “Be passionate and know why it is that you’re doing something.”
- Best Actress winner Jessie Buckley said: “If you’re really passionate about anything in life, you have to go for it, get to know yourself, be curious, there is so much incredible life behind you and you have to open your eyes.”
- 2025 EE Rising Star Award winner David Jonsson said: “I’m still figuring things out, but go on with authenticity, be yourself, try enhancing it, and don’t change yourself.”
- Award-winning actress and director Kerry Washington said: “This requires a lot of resilience and strength and faith and willingness to live in the unknown so if there are other things you want to do, do that. But if this is all you want to do then do it from your heart.”
- British Rapper Little Simz said: “Find a story you want to tell, it’s hard to put yourself out there and be vulnerable but when you put yourself out there that is when you create magic.”
- Award-winning actor Bryan Cranston said: “If you don’t take a chance, you will never know if you will succeed.”
- Award-winning actress and director Maggie Gyllenhaal said: “My advice is to really listen to yourself. A lot of people will tell you over and over again this is too much and I don’t agree. The work that gets celebrated and talked about is the work with a special unusual point of view.”
- British Rapper Stormzy said: “Be brave and be brilliant.”
As part of its ongoing partnership with BAFTA, EE continues to use the power of its connectivity to provide unique pathways for young creatives to learn, engage and be inspired, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the next generation of film talent. Now in its twenty-ninth year, the partnership between EE and BAFTA is one of the UK’s longest-standing cultural partnerships. Together, they continue to champion creative excellence and ensure that film remains a shared national moment, wherever you’re watching from.
